A warm welcome to Bruce Stanley as our new Sales Manager in Dural Sales at Alpine Nurseries. Bruce joins us after our own Greg Knox officially moved into a new role as Business Development Manager.
Bruce, having been connected with horticulture all his working life, brings a wealth of experience to this role. He was initially drawn to horticulture due to his love of growing plants and being immersed in nature. “I’ve always had a preference for the great outdoors, which led me to gardening and horticulture.” His first job was in retail horticulture at Sheringham’s Nursery. After extensive years there, he then moved across to Thomkins Gardens at Endfield, later becoming Product Manager for the Seed and Bulb Division at Yates. Bruce then worked in the Home Improvement Sector as a Retail Buyer for BBC Hardware and Bunnings for around 15 years before commencing with the Woolworths joint Venture – Masters Home Improvement.
“Having worked for large retailers and multinationals, this is a great opportunity to gain experience in the commercial and wholesale sector of the industry” says Bruce.
“I am honoured to be able to join Peter Knox and the team. I’ve known and worked with Alpine Nurseries for approximately 30 years in the industry. In that time, I’ve always admired Alpine for the quality of the stock and attention to professional service. Plants here are consistently of a good size and structure, and in my opinion, the stock and plant health here is the benchmark for the best in the industry.”
Bruce says he’s very excited to join a sales team who are equally dedicated and passionate about the industry as he is.
When not at work or in the garden, Bruce loves a good bbq cook-up or taking to the slopes snow skiing. He’s passionate about travelling up the mid-North coast of NSW with family and friends, where he regularly spends time kayaking, swimming and relaxing. Bruce has two grown daughters who each live and study in Sydney. As for Bruce, he’s been local to the area for over 20 years and lives just up the road from our nursery in Dural.
When asked about his favourite plant, he replied, “I don’t discriminate. I love all plants. Each one delivers its own benefits and serves a purpose. Although the Grevilleas are one of my all-time favourite group of plants because of the diverse range of colour, habit and hardiness across the genus.”
Welcome Bruce Stanley, it’s great to have you here.
