STAFF PROFILE - STUART ALLAN

Stuart started working at Alpine in 2000. He has worked in all areas of the nursery over the years but since 2004 has been kept very busy filling the role of Dispatch Manager in the Sales Office. This position of Dispatch Manager is one that is critical to the support of the Sales team who in recent years have seen more than steady sales growth.

Stuart’s role at Alpine, due to the ever increasing sales, has become quite a task. It could never be described as dull or boring, but hectic, exciting and stressful definitely. Alpine originally had 2 trucks for deliveries and now has 4 trucks and 2 vans and we also rely heavily on hired contractor trucks and drivers. The dispatch team comprises of 4 truck drivers, a dock hand and up to 6 order pickers. Apart from picking all the orders for deliveries, the dispatch team also prepares orders for customers who wish to pick up their orders.

The role of the Dispatch Manager requires careful forward planning to ensure all bookings are accurately recorded and that the space available in the trucks is closely monitored. The Sales and Dispatch team are no strangers to last minute changes or surprises and Stuart’s role within the team requires him to remain flexible and reactive to ensure our customers are provided the best service possible. Rarely a day go by when there aren’t urgent last minute orders which need to be dispatched.

The increase in sales constantly puts pressure on the Sales/Dispatch team and as a result procedures and policies have had to evolve to suit. Stuart has been closely involved in these changes which aim to improve stock management, and provide the best possible delivery service to our customers.

In his spare time Stuart enjoys mountain biking, bushwalking , keeping fit and competes in Adventure Racing and Oztag .He lives in the Blue Mountains and is always out exploring the local terrain. Stuart has seen the extraordinary growth of Alpine Nurseries over the years and has enjoyed the challenges that go with it. He always expects the unexpected and always strives to achieve success and achieve the best results for the team and our customers.
