Impact Grasses Update

Photo 15.jpgThings are busy at Impact Grasses this summer with a number of projects around the nursery progressing well.  The projects will further develop and expand Impact’s ability to supply grasses for all jobs from small residential to large commercial.

Development has started on our new nursery growing pad which is adjacent to the existing beds. This growing pad will house mostly Viro-Tubes and some 140mm stock.

The Queensland summer has been living up to its name, with dry hot days and wet stormy nights, which has proved a challenge for our earthworks contractors. We are hoping to have this completed with plants going down on the racks by mid to late summer, weather permitting of course.

"Total Water Services" have been appointed to carry out the irrigation installation. They have their equipment on site, eagerly awaiting the finalisation of the earthworks so that we can get trenches dug and pipes laid.

In early 2009, we will also see work commence on renovations to some of the old shade structures.  These will be re-skinned as required to cope with the increased levels of stock we are growing.

We are also in the process of expanding our potting stations to further increase growing capacity and will soon be turning our mind to the new dispatch and propagation areas.

Landscapers have been busy around the nursery installing garden beds along the driveway, around the propagation area and the office. These gardens will be mass planted with a variety of different species and, not only will it help beautify the nursery, but will it be a good source of mother stock for seed collection.  It will also be an aid for Councils, Landscapers and Landscape Architects who will be able to see what the established stock looks like when planted in the landscape.
