Staff Profile – Karl Allan
He is responsible for the production of all trees at our Dural and Alpine Advanced sites and has been kept very busy recently by our Alpine Advanced expansion and the related changes at our Dural site. Karl has been with Alpine for 5 years and heads a team of 6 people which work on all facets of tree production including potting, root pruning, canopy form pruning, staking, management of the health and vigour of the plants and protection from pests and diseases. Previously, Karl worked at Civic Trees, again focusing on the production of large trees bringing his total experience in growing trees to over 10 years. This experience has been instrumental in rolling out techniques at Alpine with respect to staking and spacing to improve the caliper and trunk strength of our trees. This is part of Karl’s objective to continually refine our growing techniques to improve the already high quality of our trees. Karl is heavily focused on integrating NATSPEC compliant growing practices into every stage of the production cycle. We firmly believe that NATSPEC is more than a certification at sale, it is a process that, when followed at every stage of the production cycle, produces high quality trees consistently. The Semi Mature team, under Karl’s leadership, has been responsible for potting up and installing all the 200L trees at Alpine Advanced as well as keeping up with the demanding potting and maintenance schedule at our Dural site. In addition to being involved with the planning of the Alpine Advanced expansion, Karl has been kept busy planning his wedding to his lovely fiancé in April.

Karl is the Head of Semi Mature Trees at Alpine Nurseries which covers all trees from 45L to 400L.
