Impact Grasses

Alpine Nurseries is pleased to announce the acquisition of Impact Grasses, a Queensland based specialist grass nursery.  Impact Grasses grows a wide range of landscape and wetland grasses including the full range of Ozbreed grasses.

The acquisition greatly expands the range of grasses grown by Alpine in viro cells, viro tubes and 140mm pots.  Impact Grasses is a licensed Ozbreed grower and is able to produce the full range of Ozbreed and Foliage First plants in sizes from cells to 140mm pots.

Impact Grasses is one of only four licensed Ozbreed growers in Queensland and the only nursery in Queensland with the ability to propagate, divide and multiply the Ozbreed range. The business previously operated as a part of Tango Trees and Grasses. The tree business will continue under existing ownership.

Photo 1 (22).JPGThe team will be working hard to increase production to keep up with the demand for native wetland and drought tolerant grasses in Queensland and to expand the nursery’s capacity to supply NSW as well.

In addition to propagation from mother stock on site, over 200,000 plants have been secured for production over the next 12 months to cater for the demand for grasses in Queensland and NSW.

Impact Grasses is highly experienced at contract growing and we encourage you to forward order stock as much as possible to ensure supply of the desired species in the number required.

We will use our two semi trailers which regularly travel up and down the east coast to transport grasses from Impact Grasses to Alpine Alstonville and Alpine Dural.

The nursery sits on a 40 acre site that backs onto the Logan River and is centrally located to both Brisbane and the Gold Coast with both only 25 minutes drive away.

Photo 1 (1).JPGFacilities on the site include 2 dams, 3 igloos used for seed germination and growing on tissue culture, 2 large shade-houses that accommodate cells for potting and divided stock for propagation and large growing pads for potted stock.

The site will also have a depot area for stock destined for Alpine Dural and Alstonville sourced from Queensland suppliers, improving the logistics of bringing Queensland grown stock to NSW to meet any supply shortfalls.

Mother stock of many grasses including wetland grasses are maintained on site allowing efficient seed collection.

Photo 1 (16).jpgMore updates on Impact Grasses will follow in the coming months as the site is expanded and the amount of stock available increased substantially.
