Alstonville NewsThe development of our Alstonville nursery continues and we have just completed a second loading dock to handle the increasing volume of stock bound for Dural. The new loading dock is adjacent to one of the dams on the property and is purpose built for the Alpine semi trailers.
We have also completed the new semi-mature bed that is in front of our office and runs down to Ellis Road. This bed holds around 2,500 plants and this bed is full of terrific stock for our customers.
We have also done significant earthworks in preparation for the next stage of bed development. This work is almost complete and manager Bruce Wilson is promising stock will hit the new areas early in the new year. Before then we must complete the drainage work, the 3rd retention pond for water recycling and of course fully connect the area into the irrigation network. The work has been far easier than expected as thankfully we did not hit the infamous Alstonville Plateau basalt rock. In staff news, we have appointed Greg Hellyar as Assistant Production Manager, replacing Ben Habershon who has moved to Brisbane to manage our new business, Impact Grasses. We are very fortunate to have people of Ben’s and Greg’s calibre at Alpine and it also exemplifies our commitment to our staff by enabling our people to build their careers and take advantage of our growth.
