Feature Plants: Beschorneria yuccoides & Acacia Curvaceous

In this newsletter we feature two distinctive and hardy plants: Beschorneria yuccoides, the Mexican Lily and a new release for Alpine Nurseries, Acacia ‘Curvaceous’.

Beschornoria yuccoides

Photo 1 (18).jpgBeschorneria yuccoides is a strappy leaved plant with grey/green coloured foliage.  The spreading sword shaped leaves resemble a Doryanthes. but the mature height is only 1m and spread up to 1.5m.  Red flower spikes up to 1.5m rise from the centre of the plant with green and red coloured flowers.

Beschornerias are very hardy once established and look great as either a feature plant or planted in masses.  Plants are heat, wind, drought and frost tolerant and enjoy a sunny position and well drained soil making them ideal for a wide range of applications and locations.

Beschorneria yuccoides will be available in 300mm pots in late spring, call our sales team on 9651 0999 now to reserve yours.

Acacia ‘Curvaceous’

Photo 1 (5).jpgAcacia Curvaceous is a weeping shrub growing to 70cm x 70cm with mounded masses of fine foliage.  Its fine textured appearance makes it ideal for softening paved entertainment areas where it can be grown successfully in large pots or garden beds.

Once established Curvaceous requires little maintenance and no pruning.  It’s drought tolerant and reasonably fast growing once the root system has established making it ideal for low maintenance areas including mass planting over difficult sites.

Curvaceous offers year round interest with its evergreen presence. When planted along retaining walls or embankments the weeping foliage will fall to soften hard edges.

Plant as a feature plant in small gardens or in large pots for patios, decks and other hard surfaced areas.

Acacia ‘Curvaceous’ will be available in 200mm pots in late spring, call our sales team on 9651 0999 for more details.
