Feature Plants:

Two colourful plants are featured this season: Loropetalum chinense ‘China Pink’ and the striking Cordyline ‘Cabernett’.  Both these plants provide colour to landscapes when many other plants have finished flowering.

Loropetalum chinense ‘China Pink’

This is a plant with many pleasant surprises in store for those who use it.  It provides year round classy, burgundy wine foliage, made all the more appealing by the brighter, lighter colouring of the new leaves.  In spring and autumn, it produces a mass of dainty tasseled bright pink flowers which are a striking contrast to the foliage.

The habit of growth is another appealing feature of the plant, it grows in a tiered manner, each layer of growth building on the previous until it reaches about 1.5m x 2m wide , although keeping it lower is easy and encourages even more new growth.

It is suitable for mass groupings, feature plantings and containers provided it is given adequate sunlight.

Loropetalum ‘China Pink’ is available in 140mm pots @ $4.50, 200mm pots @ $7.95 and 300mm pots @ $30.00

Cordyline australis ‘Cabernett’ is a reliable cordyline that has wine coloured weeping foliage and a multi stemmed habit.  Cabernett prefers to be grown in full sun to maintain the rich colour of the foliage and is tolerant of a wide range of soil and climatic conditions including moderate frost.

It is a colourful addition to any garden or landscape.  Cordyline ‘Cabernett’ also looks striking in containers and decorative pots, used en mass or as a feature plant where the colour of the foliage can be used as a wonderful contrast.

Cordyline ‘Cabernett’ is available in 200mm pots @ $11.50 + GST or 300mm pots @ $40.00 + GST.
