Alpine Nurseries - 2011 National Large Production Nursery of the Year

Alpine Alstonville was successful in being named the 2011 Large Production Nursery of the Year at the Nursery and Garden Industry of Australia Awards night in Melbourne last Friday. The category was contested by several nurseries around the country, nurseries that had won their State Award.AA low res.jpg

The Large Production Nursery category is open to nurseries employing more than 15 full time staff.

Winning the award was very gratifying and a triumph for Bruce Wilson, Ben Habershon, Karen Bono and all the team at Alstonville. In accepting the award Peter Knox, Managing Director of Alpine Nurseries, noted that “teamwork, a great customer in Alpine Dural and a desire from day 1 to build a nursery on strong planning foundations were instrumental in our success”.  He went on to say “we have a great culture at our Alstonville nursery and I am sure the judges were impressed when they spoke with our people.  Several staff members have been with us from the beginning and have completed several modules of our internal training program. They are fundamental to our success”.

-          Excellent stock condition
-          Purpose built site
-          Commitment to best practice
-          Business systems and procedures
-          Alpine’s NIASA accreditation and EcoHort certification

The Alstonville nursery is now the largest grower of stock for Alpine and has developed a reputation for setting the benchmark when it comes to building a nursery from scratch.  The Alstonville nursery will continue to grow through good planning and excellent staff.  Alstonville Aerial 211210_web version.jpg

The completion of the initial master plan at Alstonville includes the construction of a bridge to cross the creek running at the rear of the property and new beds laid on the remaining 10 acres of the site which is part of Alpine’s plans to grow significantly more super advanced trees.  Construction should be completed by the end of the year.

Well done Alstonville!
