Comments, Features & Uses:
Dense large shrub or small tree with dark green rigid leaves and brilliant scarlet bottlebrush style flowers. Can be used for screen planting or as a windbreak in small gardens. Also a popular choice in coastal plantings or as a street tree. Good bird attractor for nectar feeding.

Coastal Tolerance:
|
Resistant to salt spray in second line.

Soil Requirements:

Will grow in most garden soils and is tolerant of quite harsh sites from dry to poor draining soils. |

Moisture Requirements:
|
Can endure less than perfect drainage but usually performs best in gardens with reasonable drainage and regular availability of water. Excellent for swampy sites but can also tolerate drought conditions.

Maintenance and Fertiliser Requirements:
|
Trim after flowering to maintain a good shape and produce more flowers the following year. Responds well to annual fertilisation after flowering and not as sensitive to Phosphorus as some other Australian natives.
