New Releases

Our new release plant section show cases newly developed cultivars that we have selected based on various qualities such as larger flowers, consistency in growth or a unique characteristic for example foliage colour.

We have also included species and cultivars that are tried and proven but are new to the Alpine range of plants.

Syzygium luehmanii 'Lulu'

Lulu has a distinct weeping habit with vivid flushes of colour on the new growth. The mature leaf is glossy and it has fluffy white flowers followed by non toxic small red berries. Lulu is suitable for hedges and informal screening. Ideally plant in warmer regions away from frost.

Lomandra confertifolia spp rubiginosa Silver Grace

Silver Grace is a decorative silver grey weeping grass that is suitable for mass plantings, roadside plantings, parklands and coastal situations. It has small yellow flowers that are held down within the foliage. It will tolerate light salt spray and also very cold condition to at least -5c.

Liriope muscari 'Just Right'®

Just Right is a form of Liriope that is produced only by division or tissue culture and is there fore very regular in its growth habit and its height. It has been developed due to the increasing variability of Liriope Evergreen Giant which depending on the form can grow anywhere from 300mm high to 800mm high and is also variable in its leaf width.  It will tolerate full sun in good conditions to dry shade and prefers warmer climates with no frost.

Lepironia articulata Twizzler

Twizzler is a sticking reed like plant with twisted, glaucous foliage. It can be used to create a striking architectural element in ponds, bog gardens, wetlands or in the garden. When planted in the garden it will need good summer watering and will only reach about 800 to 1 m tall.

Lomandra fluviatilis 'Shara'

Shara is a fine leafed Lomandra  that tolerats damper conditions and higher humidity that most other forms but will still survive in reasonably dry conditions. It will tolerate frosts to -5c and will still keep its green colour at these temperatures. It has small yellow flowers that are held above the foliage .
