Low Shrubs

Gardenia augusta 'Radicans'

A dwarf variety with small dark green glossy foliage bearing small fragrant double white flowers from late Spring to Autumn. As a ground cover they are suitable for sheltered rockeries, shaded borders or containers.

Acmena smithii 'Allyns Magic'

Evergreen, dwarf, rounded, dense shrub. Pinky bronze-green new foliage matures to glossy green. Ideal for specimen plantings, low hedging, borders and topiary balls. Great substitute for Buxus and Syzygium Tiny Trev. Fluffy white flowers in Summer.

Alternanthera dentata

Quick growing small to medium perennial shrub with dark purple foliage. Excellent contrast against other foliage in garden beds and flower borders and a dramatic accent in sunny positions. Can be hedged or allowed to sprawl. Clusters of small creamy white globular flower heads appear in Winter.

Buxus microphylla var. japonica

Hardy compact evergreen shrub with glossy, dark green, oval foliage. Can be used as a simple, clipped garden border/hedge or used to create elaborate patterns as found in parterre gardens. Ideal for clipping into well define formal shapes and topiary.

Buxus microphylla var. microphylla

Slow growing dwarf, evergreen shrub with dense, glossy, dark green foliage and a slightly weeping habit. Ideal for low maintenance low hedges, borders, rockeries and pots. Does not have the rancid smell associated with Buxus sempervirens so well suited to small courtyards and confined spaces.

Callistemon 'Little John'

Dwarf shrub with a compact rounded habit and profuse dark red bottlebrush flower heads that cover the plant in Spring and Summer. The attractive bluish-green foliage is lance-shaped with a slightly soft, furry appearance. Good for border plantings or low hedges, in rockeries, or as a potted specimen on patios and balconies. Bird attractant.

Carissa Desert Star

Attractive, small, compact evergreen shrub with large white, sweetly scented, star-shaped flowers and glossy round green leaves. Hardy and drought resistant and makes a very good low hedge or mounding plant. This plant has thorns so particularly useful for Commercial landscape no thoroughfare areas.

Escallonia 'Pink Pixie'

A compact dwarf form of Escallonia with glossy, dark green serrated leaves. Masses of terminal clusters of cerise pink flowers appear from Spring through to Autumn. Perfect for low hedges and edges and also suitable to be grown in tubs and containers on balconies and patios. Excellent choice for seaside gardens. Bird and butterfly attracting.

Grevillea 'Scarlet Sprite'

A vigorous small shrub with a rounded habit and stiff branches that give the plant a spikey appearance. The leaves are needle-like and dark green and deep crimson tube-shaped flowers appear in clusters from late Winter through to Spring. Popular choice for parks and gardens as a screen or barrier plant due to its prickliness, and may be trimmed to form an informal hedge. Also good in rockeries or as potted specimens.

Nandina domestica 'Gulf Stream'

Highly favoured, evergreen, compact, bamboo-like shrub with attractive fern-like foliage that will change colour with the seasons. Admired mainly for its habit and foliage ‘Gulf Stream’ is an excellent choice for border plantings, as a garden feature, or in containers. Great for small gardens, particularly those with a Japanese theme, or as a feature plant in courtyards or on balconies.
