Evergreen Trees

Acmena smithii

Very attractive large tree that can be grown as a specimen or as a tall hedge. New growth is brown/ red. Fluffy, cream, highly decorative flowers are borne in early summer followed by mauve- white fruits that are edible.

Angophora costata

A most ornamental tree grown for its outstanding pink- grey smooth- barked contorted trunk and mass of creamy white flowers that are borne in summer. Ideal for Parks and large gardens.

Araucaria cunninghamii

A very tall, straight growing evergreen tree with rough bark with ‘hoop’ like markings or bands around the trunk. Makes an excellent specimen tree, shade tree, wind break, coastal tree and street tree.

Araucaria heterophylla

Remarkable for growing absolutely upright with a very symmetrical shape even in the face of constant salt laden winds. Makes an excellent, specimen tree, street tree, avenue tree and coastal tree.

Backhousia citriodora

Versatile plant grown for its beautiful lemon scented aroma that is released when leaves are crushed and profusion of creamy white flowers. New growth is an attractive red. Oils from the plant are used in food, essential oil soap and lotion production. Makes an excellent shade tree, street tree or hedge.

Banksia serrata

Noted for its leathery, serrated green leaves and striking yellow flowers that are produced for most of the year. It is a great evergreen tree for gardens, parks and roadside plantings.

Brachychiton acerifolius

A semi-deciduous tree that produces bright red flowers after the leaves have been shed. The effect is that of a tree on fire. Leaves are extremely large and palmate shape. A gorgeous specimen tree suitable for parks, reserves or a large garden.

Buckinghamia celsissima

Is often grown as a street tree and as a hedge or wind break and appreciated for its spectacular display of sweetly fragrant, creamy white flowers in Summer. Flowers best in areas that experience a mild Winter. Very attractive to bees and birds.

Cupaniopsis anacardioides

A small to medium sized, evergreen tree with a widely spreading crown. Glossy green leaves and small orange fruits in late Spring that open to reveal glossy black seeds that are very attractive to birds. Makes and excellent shade tree or street tree. Excellent in difficult planting situations due to their ability to withstand salt, wind exposure, poor sandy soils and urban pollution.

Cupressocyparis leylandii 'Leighton Green'

A vigorous, fast growing evergreen conifer that eventually forms a dense, deep green, conical tree. Makes an excellent hedge, windbreak or screen especially at exposed or coastal locations. A very hardy tree, able to withstand salt, pollution, frost and temporary inundation.
