Syzygium 'Cascade'
Cascade Lilly Pilly
Description
As a valued hybrid between S.luehmannii and S.wilsonii, Syzygium 'Cascade' is a rounded, bushy, large shrub with weeping foliage in brilliant shades of red, pink and apple-green. During Summer, gold-tipped, pink, pom-pom clustered flowers form at the ends of the drooping branches. The flowers are followed by edible pink fruit with a delicate clove flavour. Grows in an open sunny position or part shade. Best foliage and flowers are produced in full sun. Prefers fertile, well-drained soils but is tolerant of a wide range of soils. Not recommended for coastal sites but withstands light frosts. Water well to establish and during hot, dry periods. Cascade is a vigorous, hardy shrub with continual flushes of brightly coloured new foliage growth and an ideal choice for informal screening, garden features or as tub specimens. Prune lightly after fruiting to encourage a new foliage flush. Apply a Native fertiliser.
