Viburnum odoratissimum
Sweet Viburnum
Description
A popular large shrub/small tree with a dense, rounded, bushy habit and large, leathery, oval, green to lime green foliage. In Spring it produces large clusters of small, highly fragrant white flowers and these are followed by red berries that age to black. Grows in full sun to part shade preferring a moist, well-drained soil and will tolerate frost when established. Adaptable to urban conditions, tolerating compaction, poor drainage, dryness and air pollution. Fast growing and fragrant, this is an excellent shrub for blocking out unwanted views or creating privacy. Apply a slow release fertiliser in early Spring and prune as required. Can be under-pruned to shape as a tree.
