Nandina domestica 'Gulf Stream'

Dwarf Sacred Bamboo, Dwarf Heavenly Bamboo

Description

A highly favoured, upright yet compact, bamboo-like shrub with erect branching and attractive fern-like foliage. New leaves are pinkish red and darken to green, and cooler temperatures in Winter produce a red/orange colour change. Admired mainly for its habit and foliage, ‘Gulf Stream’ is an excellent choice for border plantings, as a garden feature, or in containers. Great for small gardens, particularly those with a Japanese or Contemporary theme, or in courtyards or on balconies. Will grow in full sun to part shade, tolerates second line coastal positions and is also suitable for cooler, inland situations where it withstands light frosts. Likes good water during the Summer months but will tolerate drier conditions once established. Minimal maintenance is required and prune only to shape at any time of the year.
