Hardenbergia violacea 'Meema'

Hardenbergia violacea 'Meema', False Sarsaparilla, Purple Coral Pea

Description

An attractive, evergreen, shrubby groundcover, which will climb if allowed. It has clean, leathery green foliage which tolerates both cold conditions and hot dry northerly winds better than other Hardenbergia. Masses of bright purple pea flowers appear from Winter to Spring, followed by small pods. Has tidier foliage, longer lasting flowers and lives longer than H.violacea. Requires full sun to semi shade, suits sandy to heavy clay soils and tolerates cold and drought. Water as required until established (8-13 weeks), apply a chunky mulch, and fertilise with a slow release native fertiliser in Spring if necessary. Great feature for gardens and landscapes. Prune lightly after flowering to keep tidy.
