Lagerstroemia Indian Summer 'Lipan'
Lipan Crepe Myrtle, Crepe Myrtle
Description
A tough yet pretty, small, ornamental, deciduous tree with a vase-shaped habit and a spreading crown. Feature highlights are the attractive, patterned bark and the mauve flowers, displayed in panicles throughout the Summer and Autumn months. The dark green Summer foliage changes to a light orange/russet in Autumn. Grows in full sun to partial shade, preferring a moist, well-draining, slightly acidic soil, rich in organic matter. Suitable for temperate areas but not tolerant of coastal exposure. A very hardy and long-flowering variety, suitable for use as a feature tree in parks and gardens, street and car park plantings, or on commercial sites. Remove spent flower heads to encourage next season's growth and keep tidy.
