Lomandra hystrix 'Tropicbelle'

Tropicbelle

Description

An improved, new form of Lomandra hystrix with a uniform, compact habit. The slightly arching strappy leaves are lime-green in colour and abundant creamy-yellow flower spikes are produced in Spring. Tropicbelle is very Phytophthora resistant and tolerates high humidity and wet summers. Inland plantings require protection from heavy frosts. It will grow in a wide range of soils, from a moist sandy loam to a clay loam and both light and heavy clay soil types and is the best Lomandra species for coping with wet feet. A great plant for the edge of watercourses, dams, ponds or banks as it binds the soil. Also suited to planting in gullies and on roadside embankments or for general landscape and garden use, plus looks great in pots. Trim only when needed by cutting back by half during Spring.
