Magnolia grandiflora 'Teddy Bear'
Teddy Bear Magnolia
Description
A beautiful, evergreen, large shrub or small tree with an upright, conical (eventually rounded) habit. The leaves are rounded, glossy dark green above and velvety, coppery brown on the underside. The leaves clasp the branches tightly giving the plant a dense appearance. It produces large, creamy-white, saucer-like, fragrant flowers in Summer and Autumn. Prefers an enriched, well drained soil in a part shaded position but, as a hardy plant, it can tolerate most conditions. Withstands frost and is also good for coastal plantings. Great as a small feature tree in residential gardens and is also suitable for streetscapes and parks. Makes a good fragrant hedge/screen due to its compact habit and is great in large pots. Prune and fertilise in mid Spring.
