Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Purple Lea'
Swamp Foxtail, Fountain Grass
Description
A clumping, Australian native grass with beautifully arching, fine green foliage. Showy, feathery, cream changing to purple, flowers appear in Autumn. They sit above, and contrast well with, the leaves. It grows in full sun to part shade and is suited to sandy to heavy clay soils, tolerating frost and drought but appreciating water during hot, dry Summers. A good choice for specimen or mass plantings in rockeries, borders, residential or commercial gardens or roadsides. It is also ideal for wet areas in a garden. Reduce to 1/3rd of size in late Winter, apply an all purpose fertiliser, and water well to encourage good regrowth.
