Plectranthus argentatus 'Silver Shield'
Silver Shield, Silver Plectranthus, Silver Spurflower
Description
A vigorous, spreading, flowering shrub with a rounded habit and attractive, silvery, plush-velvet, leaves. Small mauve to white flowers are presented above the foliage on sage-like spires in Autumn. Plants prefer a well-drained soil in partial shade but will grow in full sun and are quite drought tolerant. Well suited to Mediterranean style gardens it will, however, accept regular Summer watering. Also tolerant of light frosts. A good choice for mixed borders and semi-tropical gardens where the silvery-grey tones can be used to great effect. Contrasts well with dark green and burgundy foliaged plants. Tip prune regularly and cut back hard every 2 years.
