Viburnum tinus
Viburnum tinus
Description
A tough, evergreen, medium to large shrub with a dense, rounded habit. Lime-green new foliage is presented in flushes periodically throughout the year and it matures to a glossy dark green colour, with a look similar to that of Bay leaves. During late Autumn to Winter clusters of small pink buds appear and these burst into a massed, white flower, show that lasts into early Spring. Blue-black berries follow flowering. Prefers full sun but will grow in shade and is very hardy and adaptable to a wide range of conditions, including coastal. It is also frost tolerant. Makes a great specimen shrub or hedge and is also a good background plant. Can be pruned lightly to shape after flowering, or cut back hard to rejuvenate.
