Description
A small, bulbous perennial plant with fine, glossy dark green leaves and papery, white-petalled lily flowers, similar in appearance to Crocus. Prominent stamens are golden yellow, and flowers appear from Summer through to early Autumn, often following rain periods. Grows best in full sun to part shade with protection from afternoon sun desirable. Soil should be rich and free-draining but moisture retentive. In preparing the site, dig over the soil and add a handful of blood and bone, rich compost or well decayed animal manure. Water regularly but do not overwater. Suitable for planting in drifts or as a border in gardens, and also works well in pots.
