Elaeocarpus Eumundi ‘Quondong’

Elaeocarpus Eumundi is an Australian native tree that grows primarily in the North-East of Australia. With its striking conical shape each one grows with a similar habit to the next. It’s a hidden beauty and is quickly becoming one of the most popular native trees around.

It has glossy dark-green foliage with lovely bursts of bronze new growth creating an amazing contrast of colour. In summer soft bell like cream flowers are born on each branch, creating a beautiful display and attracting a variety of local birds.

Elaeocarpus Eumundi is a medium sized rainforest tree that can be used in a variety of different aspects across any landscape project. It can grow to a great height of 25m tall in the wild, in cultivation it will generally grow between 5m and 10m tall. With its stunning columnar shape it is versatile and can be used as a wind break, for hedging, street tree planting or as a feature tree.

It will do well in both full sun and part shade and prefers a well-drained sandy loam, Eumundi is well known for its disease resistant qualities, it is considered a low maintenance tree and is perfect for the novice gardener. Pruning in late winter-early spring to allow for a nice flush of growth moving into the warmer months.
